The Tall Ships Races finals in Szczecin have come to an end. Some of the vessels have already departed. However, there is still a chance to admire the tall ships in motion as they are leaving Szczecin.
The ships that are ready to leave but still are in the harbour are Staatsraad Lemkuhl, Mir, Kruzentshtern, Sedov and Dar Młodzieży. At about 2 pm the ships with their sails open can be admired in Świnoujście.
There is a good chance for the Tall Ships’ Races to return to Szczecin in 2021. Decisions will have been reached by spring next year.

450,000 people visited in the finals of the Tall Ships’ Races in Szczecin on Sunday, the organizers say.
According to them, the greatest number of people was during the evening concert of Polish music stars taking place on the main stage. At that time there were 150,000 inhabitants and tourists on the Chrobry Embankment, Łasztownia and Grodzka Islands or on the boulevards.
On Saturday, about 300,000 took part in the event while on Friday a mere 30,000. Before the finals of the Tall Ships Races, the city authorities announced that the event would bring together more than two million people.
The sailing event in Szczecin ends today. Apart from sailing ships and yachts moored on the waterfront, visitors can enjoy sailing fairs, concerts, amusement parks, sand sculpture festivals and food truck festivals - all the attractions are located on the Chrobry Embankment and Łasztownia Island.

Those staying in the city today, after waving good bye to the ships can visit the Philharmonic in Szczecin.
The edifice is a host of many musical events, but is also famous for its magnificent structure appreciated in many architectural competitions, for example, the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award.
On the occasion of the finals of The Tall Ships Races 2017, additional dates for free-of-charge tours of the Philharmonic have been prepared for the visitors. Each tour lasts for about 30 minutes and begins in the lobby, up to the Chamber Hall, Level 4 Gallery and the Symphony Hall.
Today the Philharmonic can be visited free of charge at 11 am and 3 pm.

They have taken care of the crews, which came to Szczecin for the TSR 2017. They were addressing various requests. These people are the liaison officers dressed in characteristic red shirts.
The request may be quite odd. Last year one of the crews asked for horse dung. They needed that for a tree they were growing on the board of their ship. What about this year’s requests? One of the crew members wanted to buy a bike - says liaison officer coordinator Anna Nowak. They also provided the cews with attractions and even were trying to catch butterflies which escaped from the butterfly garden located in the Chrobry Embankment.
It is worth to mention the fact that all the liaison officer are volunteers.
Now, the weather forecast. Today will be sunny with temperatures reaching 24 centigrade.

Heute morgen haben bereits die ersten Segler Szczecin verlassen. In diesen Minuten legt eines der größten Schiffe, die „Cisne Branco" ab. Für ihre lange Rückreise nach Brasilien fährt der Windjammer unter besonderen Schutz. Dafür werden an Bord zwei Schmuckstücke aufbewahrt. Die „Heilige Mutter", die dem Schiff in schweren Zeiten beistehen soll und Münzen, die Glück bringen. Die Geldstücke sind an speziellen Orten angebracht. Die eine an der Spitze, die andere am Unterbau des Hauptmastes. Sie sind Duplikate zweier 100-Real-Geldstücke aus dem Jahr 1936 mit einem Abbild des berühmten Patrons der brasilianischen Kriegsmarine Joaquim Marques Lisboa.

Die Schutzheilige der „Cisne Branco” ist hingegen in einem speziellen Messeraum untergebracht. Wie die Crew Radio Szczecin berichtete, hatte bereits Pedro Álvares Cabral, der 1500 Brasilien entdeckte, die Heilige Mutter mit an Bord. Neben der „Cisne Branco” verlassen noch die „Dar Młodzieży” gegen 10:30 und die russische „Kruzenshtern” kurz danach den Stettiner Hafen.
Wer gerade in Swinoujście Urlaub macht - gegen 14 Uhr sollten die ersten Segelschiffe die Stadt Richtung Ostsee passieren.

Und was passiert heute noch auf dem Tall-Ships-Races-Gelände im Stettiner Hafen? Für eine Gruppe der Sandskulpturenkünster auf der Insel Lastadie ist heute der echte Finaltag. Denn ihrer Figur „Jack Sparrow", dem berühmten Piraten aus der Karibik fehlt noch sein Boot, die „Schwarze Perle". Ob die jungen Künstler aus Polen ihr Werk erfolgreich zu Ende bringen werden, können Sie heute noch bis Mitternacht beobachten. Aber auch nach dem Finale des Tall Ships Races werden die Sandskulpturen nicht abgerissen. Das Festival der beeindruckenden Figuren dauert noch bis zum 20. August auf der Insel Lastadie.
Auch heute kann man sich noch gut auf dem Finalgelände amüsieren. Wer den Adrenalinkick sucht, findet ihn sicherlich auf dem Rummelplatz auf der Insel Lastadie, auf Polnisch Łasztownia.
Sollten Sie gestern eine der kostenlosen Führungen in der Stettiner Philharmonie verpasst haben, bieten sich Ihnen noch heute dazu zwei weitere Möglichkeiten. Um 11 und 15 Uhr können Sie das neue Symbol von Szczecin besuchen.
