Szczecin will try to fight for the organization of another the Tall Ships' Races final - declared on Radio Szczecin the deputy president of Szczecin, Krzysztof Soska. He added that he has held several talks on this matter. He also outlined an action plan for the future.

"In November this year, we can start applying and this is what we are going to do. I hope that spring next year we will know the decision of the STI on this issue" - said Krzysztof Soska. "Today I visited several vessels and I did not hear a voice other than: We want to come here for the Tall Ships Races."

The final of the Tall Ships Races, which is slowly coming to an end, is the third one organized in Szczecin. The earlier ones took place in 2007 and 2013. The city could host the finals of the event once again in 2021 the earliest. That is when the Tall Ships' Races regatta will return to the Baltic Sea.

The current grand final of the sailing ships regatta will end on Tuesday.

Not only the residents of Szczecin, but first and foremost guests from Poland, the workers of Road and Urban Transport Centre continue to help them in many points of the city and suggest how to reach the finals of the regatta and return from them.

They can be found today between 6 pm and 2 am - says Center's official Anna Ortel-Chmielewska. - All the employees will provide information on the functioning of the public transport in Jaśminowa-ZUS, Basen Górniczy, Wyszyńskiego Street, at the Maritime Station, and Rodła Square.

Workers of the Road and Urban Transport Centre will also control the flow of the public transport and, if necessary, mobilize reserves.

The Tall Ships Races finals in Szczecin are coming to an end. Most of the vessels are closed to the public already. Tomorrow from early hours there will be the last chance to admire the tall ships and yachts in motion as they will be leaving Szczecin.

Yachts will be throwing the moorings at 6:45 every few minutes. The first to depart are the vessels moored in the marina on the Grodzka Island. The next will be smaller vessels from the Wieleckie Waterfront, from the Castle Route to the sailing ship Sorlandet. This should last more or less to 7:25am.

At 7:30 am, the departures from the Starówka Waterfront from the north side will begin These maneuvers may last for an hour.

Among others, the first to leave will be Santa Maria Manuela, Cisne Branco, then Shabab Oman II, Staatsraad Lemkuhl, followed by Mir and Kruzentshtern. Dar Młodzieży will be the last to leave.

Szczecin wird sich auch für ein weiteres Finale des Tall-Ships-Races bewerben. Dies erklärte der stellvertretende Stadtpräsident Krzysztof Soska im Interview mit Radio Szczecin. Ende des Jahres bereitet die Stadt ihre neue Bewerbung vor. Er hoffe, so Soska, dass bereits im nächsten Frühjahr eine Entscheidung fallen werden. Von den in diesem Jahr teilnehmenden Schiffen habe er sehr viel positives Feedback bekommen, berichtet der stellvertretende Stadtpräsident. Szczecin hat bereits zweimal in Vergangenheit das Finale ausrichtet, 2007 und 2013. Das nächstmöglichte Regattafinale in Szczecin könnte allerdings erst 2021 stattfinden. Davor konkurrieren die Segler nicht in der Ostsee miteinander.

Apropos Ostsee oder Bałtik wie es auf Polnisch heißt. Seit Jahren bemühen sich die Anrainerstaaten die Qualität des großen europäischen Binnenmeeres zu verbessern. Erst vor wenigen Wochen haben sich bei einem Treffen in Savonlinna der finnische und russische Präsident, Sauli Niinistö und Wladimir Putin, unter anderem über die Umweltprobleme im Grenzgebiet zwischen beiden Ländern unterhalten. Ein Grund für die Verunreinigung der Ostsee sind die Nitrate, die über die Flüsse ins Meer gelangen. Wie heute mehrere deutsche Medien berichten betrifft dies allerdings auch das Grundwasser in vielen Region Deutschlands. Gerade im Norden und Süden der Bundesrepublik werden die Grenzwerte oft um das achtfache überschritten. Grund sind der Einsatz von zu viel Gülle und Mineraldünger in der Landwirtschaft. Wie die Süddeutsche Zeitung heute berichtet schlagen jetzt nicht nur die Umweltverbände, sondern auch die Versorger Alarm. Der Hauptgeschäftsführer des Bundesverbandes der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft (BDEW), Martin Weyand geht davon aus, dass dies nicht nur Folgen für die Umwelt, sondern auch für den Geldbeutel der Verbraucher haben werde. "In den betroffenen Regionen könnte das Trinkwasser dadurch um bis zu 62 Prozent teurer werden", so Weyand.

Zurück zum Finale des Tall-Ships-Races-Finale, dass sich langsam seinem Ende nähert. Wer sich von den schmucken Seglern verabschieden möchte, sollte morgen früh aufstehen. Ab 6:45 Uhr werden die ersten Schiffe die Anker hochziehen und ihre Heimatreise antreten. Der Tradition folgend werden die Mannschaften Szczecin mit Transparenten, Gesang oder auf andere Weise Lebewohl sagen. Die ersten Segler werden von dem Jachthafen auf der Grodzka-Insel abfahren, danach im Minutentakt die kleineren Boote, die am Wielecki-Kai festgemacht haben. Danach sind die Segelschiffe am Altstadt-Ufer dran und schließlich werden die größten Segler verabschiedet. Als erstes ist die Abfahrt der "Shtandart" um 7:30 Uhr geplant, gegen 9:25 macht sich die "Cisne Branco" auf ihren langen Heimweg nach Brasilien und gleich danach die bei den Stettinern besonders beliebte "Shabab Oman II". Um 10:30 Uhr verabschiedetet sich schließlich die polnische "Dar Młodzieży".

Und noch zum Schluss die Wettervorhersage. Morgen erwartet uns noch einmal ein schöner Sommertag ohne größere Bewölkung. Das Thermometer übersteigt vielleicht sogar die 25 Grad.
