We begin this news report with information for parents and guardians of young children in general. 13 children arrived at the mobile emergency youth center located on the terrace above the fountain in the Chrobry Embankment on the first day of the finals of the Tall Ships Races. There could have been more, but the organizers introduced special armbands this year.

To make sure a child is safe write their name on the band and a phone under which the parent can be contacted if the child is lost, says spokesman of the regatta Tomasz Owsik-Kozłowski.

The organizers of the Tall Ships’ Races 2017 finals in Szczecin also urge parents to follow two basic safety rules to make sure the visit is enjoyable and full of great memories:
"never leave your child unattended" and "always keep an eye on them".

Crowds of people have been standing in long queues since early morning to get a chance to visit moored vessels. Thanks to the The Tall Ships’ Races finals there are 70 yachts and sailing ships waiting for visitors.

Among those which are extremely popular with the public are "Dar Młodzieży" from Poland and Russian "Sedov". The latter is one of the biggest training sailing ship in the world and it seems it is a must for all the enthusiast of sailing.

Some vessels have their own visiting hours. "Santa Maria Manuela", "Sedov" and "Tre Kronor af Stockholm" can be visited to 6 pm, "Cisne Branco" to 9 pm, "Shabab Oman" to 10 pm while "Mir" and "Kruzenshtern" like other vessels are open to the public to 8 pm. If you can’t make it today, there will also be a chance to see the ships tomorrow from 10 am to 8 pm.

1500 policemen on duty during the last 24 hours,sobriety inspections, dams on the roads and monitoring of the whole Chrobry Embankment area. This is how the law enforcement services take care of the safety during the biggest sailing ships event in Szczecin.
So far the police have identified 5 thousand people. of the 1,500 drivers checked, 15 were under the influence of alcohol..

Random checks with the metal detector are conducted by police officers at most of the entrances to the Tall Ships’ Races finals area. Although it may be inconvenient, persons undergoing controls do not complain. So far there have been no serious incidents during the regatta in the vicinity of the Chrobry Embankment.

Good music and interesting conversations. These await the visitors to the regatta in the Chillout Zone.

The Chillout Zone is located on the right bank of the Oder River, near the harbour boatswain’s office. If you want to meet interesting people, as part of "Be a tourist in Szczecin" series, you will have a chance to meet with columnists, writers, documentalists and city guides describing Szczecin from various perspectives. The next meeting starts at 5 pm.

There is also a chance to get creative. During workshops visitors will have an opportunity to build their own ships to float on water and play large-scale maritime board games.

Good local music is also to be found over there. It is played by Szczecin DJs Bass Is Fundamental, Martha and Canalia. Each DJ set begins at 6 pm.

Wenn Sie sich beeilen können Sie noch eine der größten Attraktionen des Tall-Ships-Races miterleben. Seit 16 Uhr ziehen die Besatzungen der Regattateilnehmer durch die Stettiner Innenstadt Richtung Freilichtbühne im Kasprowicz-Park. Dor werden nach Ankunft aller Mannschaften die diesjährigen Preisträger des Tall Ships Races ausgezeichnet. Zur Tradition gehört es, dass sich die Teilnehmer der Parade etwas besonderes einfallen lassen. Die Ideen sind vielfältig: Bunte Kostüme, Trommelklänge, aber auch im Gleichsschritt marschierende Kadetten in Paradeuniformen gehören zur Parade dazu. Neben den schnellsten Schiffen wird außerdem das beste Blasorchester des Regattafinales ausgezeichnet.

Für ein Schiff ist das diesjährige Treffen der Segler in Szczecin etwas ganz besonderes. Die "Frederic Chopin" feiert ein Jubiläum. Vor 25 Jahren stach das polnische Schulungsschiff in Szczecin zum ersten Mal in See. Die "Frederic Chopin" ist in ihrer Klasse das drittgrößte Schiff weltweit. Während des Tall-Ships-Races-Finale präsentiert sie sich ihren Gästen am Altstadt-Ufer (Nabreże Starowka) auf der Łasztownia-Insel. Die "Fryderyk Chopin", wie man sie auf Polnisch ausspricht, wurde 1992 in der Danziger Dora-Werft gebaut. Das Schulungsschiff hat verschiedene Abenteuer erlebt und Erfolge gesammelt. Unter anderem hat die "Frederic Chopin" Lateinamerika umsegelt und 2012 das Tall Ships Races in der Klasse A gewonnen. Während eines Sturms auf dem Atlantik brachen beide Masten. Nach dem Unglück bekam die "Frederic Chopin" einen neuen Reeder. Heute ist Szczecin wieder ihr Heimathafen. Ihren Geburt feiert das Schiff gemeinsam mit den Gästen des Regattafinales. Heute und morgen ab 17:30 spielen verschiedene Shanty-Ensembles an Deck der "Frederic Chopin" auf, u. a. die "Shantazyści" und die "Hard Times".

Heute Abend treten aber nicht nur die Vertreter der traditionellen Seemanns-Musik auf. Ab 20 Uhr spielen auf der Hauptbühne unterhalb der Hakenterrasse viele bekannte polnische Rock- und Popmusiker, die ihr Talent im beliebten Fernsehprogramm "Voice of Poland" unter Beweis gestellt haben. Neben Lokalmatadoren wie Damian Ukeje sind noch andere Finalisten und Jury-Mitglieder des Programms zu sehen. Polnische Titel, aber auch viele internationale Hits stehen auf dem Programm.

Noch ein Tipp für die Kinder des Finales. Im Kinderareal rund um den Adam-Mickiewicz-Platz werden wie bereits berichtet Alben für die jüngsten Gäste verteilt. Mit ihnen können die Kinder auf eine speziell vorbereitete Schnitzeljagd gehen, um Stempel auf ausgewählten Schiffen und Plätzen zu sammeln.
