1. There are not enough places in Szczecin marinas. Sailors attending the Tall Ships’ Races will not be able to moor their vessels during the final on Friday, for example, in the marina on Grodzka Island. A similar situation is in the marina in Gocław.

However, there are places in the marinas in Dąbie and as the AZS marina operator announces even in the absence of places, they will build special, additional piers to which mooring will be possible.

Spokesman for the Tall Ships Races Tomasz Owsik-Kozłowski reassures that despite the lack of places in marinas, the traffic on Grodzka Island should be unobstructed.

The organizers are aware of the fact that there might be situations when someone comes in their yacht or motorboat to drop off their friends or family at the event area. Having in mind a situation when the waterfront might become clogged, there will be a special "kiss and sail" stop prepared in the marina. You will be able to go there, leave somebody on the land and sail further to make it a rotating place says Owsik-Kozlowski.

2. Now a very important piece of news! Until Wednesday in Szczecin the use of fireworks has been prohibited. The West-Pomeranian police chief and the voivod explain that their use, due to fears of a terrorist attack, could cause panic. Therefore, pyrotechnic articles can not be used throughout the city.

According to West-Pomeranian police chief Jacek Cegieła, the characteristics of the events of terrorist nature occurring in Europe, especially during mass events makes the law enforcement more sensitive to the hazard of panic happening. Panic can be triggered by a false alarm or the use of pyrotechnics. If someone defies the ban on the use of fireworks, they may be penalized with a fine as high as 500 Polish zlotys.

A professional firework display will take place in Szczecin on Saturday night.

3. And now on a lighter note. Yachts and sailing ships are not the only attraction of the Tall Ships’ Races. In the Żeromski Park there will be a sailing openair cinema launched later today.

A total of 40 hours of screening will be available to viewers. The film "Wind" from 1992 will be the first to be shown at 5 pm. The movie will be shown twice. The second show will take place on Saturday at 6:40pm. There are also such hit movies as "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" or "Pirates" and many to other films including documentaries.

1. Szczecin erwartet heute die Hauptattraktionen des Tall Ship Races - die am Finale teilnehmenden Segelboote. Eines der größten, die russische Sedov legt direkt am Ufer vor der Hakenterasse auf Höhe des Wojewodschaftsamtes an. Der Viermaster ist mit seiner Länge von 120 Metern eines der größten Segelschiffe auf der Welt. Ein paar Meter kürzer ist die russische Kruzensztern, die auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite auf der Lastadie-Insel festmacht. Neben der Sedov wird das größte polnische Segelboot, der Dreimaster Dar Modzieyz anlegen. Eine Übersicht darüber, wo welche Boote anlegen, finden sich unter radioszczecin.pl

2. Heute Vormittag sind bereits die ersten Segelschiffe in Szczecin angekommen. Die „Tre Kronor af Stockholm" hat an der Lastadie-Insel angelegt. Die Brigg ist ein Nachbau der „Gladan", die als Fracht- und Expeditionsschiff bis nach Spitzbergen und Grönland segelte. Danach fungierte sie als Schulungsschiff der schwedischen Armee und sank 1924 vor Karlskrona. Nach 70 Jahren ist der Zweimaster in privater Initative wieder originalgetreu nachgebaut worden. Neben der „Tre Kronor af Stockholm" ist am Vormittag als zweites skandinavisches Schiff die finnische „Joanna Saturna" in Szczecin eingelaufen.

3. Während des Tall-Ships-Races-Finale gilt auf dem gesamten Stettiner Stadtgebiet ein Feierwerk-Verbot. Diesen Beschluss hat das Wojewodschaftsamt auf Bitten der Polizei gefällt. Mit der Maßnahme wollen die Sicherheitskräfte verhindern, dass bei einem eventuellen falschen Alarm eine Massenpanik ausgelöst werde. Nach Angaben von Jacek Cegieła, Kommandant der Polizei in Westpommern, droht bei Verstoß ein Strafgeld von 500 Złoty.
Ganz auf Feierwerke müssen die Gäste des Regattenfinales aber nicht verzichten. Nach dem Konzert von Andrea Bocelli wird der Himmel über der Stettiner Hakenterrasse 15 Minuten lang durch ein professioneles Feuerwerksunternehmen erleuchtet werden.

4. Die Jachten und Segelschiffe sind nicht die einzigen Attraktionen während des Tall-Ships-Races-Finale. Von heute an bis Montag beginnt im Żeromski-Park das „Segel”-Freilicht-Kino. Zu sehen sind 40 Werke, davon viele im englischen Orginal mit polnischen Untertiteln. Den Beginn macht heute um 17 Uhr der Film „Wind” von Carroll Ballard aus dem Jahr 1992, der morgen noch einmal um 18.40 Uhr zu sehen sein wird. Neben Dokumentarfilmen warten auch Hits wie „Master & Commander - Bis ans Ende der Welt” oder „Piraten” von Roman Polanski auf ihr Publikum. Der Eintritt zum Freilicht-Kino ist frei. Und auch auf der Lastadie kann man aber nicht nur die Segelboote aus aller Welt bestaunen, sondern an einem etwas anderen Programm heute Abend teilnehmen. Beim Samba Port Festival ist jeder eingeladen zu lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen zu tanzen oder mit zu trommeln. Beginn ab 19 Uhr.
